From Vienna to Stift Admont
A pleasure tour on well-marked cycle paths along the Danube and Enns.
Total length: 335 km / 4 - 5 days
1st part: Vienna - Enns on the Danube cycle path (approx. 220 km)
2nd part: Enns - Admont on the Enns cycle path (approx. 115 km)
Return journey: Either by train (approx. 3.5 hours) or you cycle back to Vienna through the Lower Austrian Alpine foothills, a very attractive, gently hilly region south of the Danube (approx. 250 km, partly on state roads)
The tour can also be ridden in the opposite direction and is suitable for both our touring bikes and our racing bikes.
Tour description
1st part: The first part of the bike tour takes you from Vienna along the Danube upstream to Enns. The route is easy to cycle and very well marked. Here you cycle on one of the most beautiful parts of the Danube cycle path through the Wachau, where the best white wines are made, and you can visit historic places along the way such as the Dürnstein ruins or Melk Abbey.
This section is around 220 km long and can be completed in 2 - 3 days.
2nd part: The second part of the tour follows another river, the Enns. It rises in the Alps in Salzburg, then flows through Styria and flows into the Danube in the city of Enns, which is also the oldest town in Austria. You now follow the river through the historic town of Steyr via Weyer and Hieflau through the Gesäuse National Park to Admont, where the monastery of the same name is located. The Benedictine monastery has the world's largest monastery library and is a cultural highlight of the tour.
This stage is approximately 115 km long and can easily be completed in 2 days. However, if you have time, there are many places and sights worth exploring along the way.

A call on the same day is usually sufficient and ensures a flexible and relaxed trip. Drive for as long (or short) as you like and decide on accommodation at short notice.
